Two Heroes Bring Baby Back To Life — Not Once, But Twice

Brittany Lockwood lost control of her car on Highway 198 in Visalia, CA. The vehicle flipped, trapping her three kids who were buckled up in the backseat. Brittany pulled herself from the wreckage and scrambled to bring 5-year-old Preston, 2-year-old Aubreanna, and 8-month-old Ryder to safety.
Mike Spicer, a retired CHP officer, was driving home and listening to a sermon about men who are filled with the “Holy Spirit” when he spotted the wreckage. He also saw a man carrying a lifeless baby

on the side of the road. He could tell baby Ryder wasn’t breathing, and was probably already gone. When Mike pulled up to the scene, the man handed Ryder over to him. He put the baby in his truck and started to perform CPR, as the other man ran back to the crash site to help the rest of the baby’s family.
Brittany Lockwood’s overturned vehicle had struck a tree off Highway 198 in Visalia, CA. Brittany had been driving her three young children: 5-year-old Preston, 2-year-old Aubreanna, and 8-month-old Ryder.
Tony Calvillo, 42, was the first one to arrive at the wreckage. After he called 911 and ran to the scene, he could hear baby Ryder wailing from the back seat.

At the time of the crash, Tony and his 8-year-old son were headed to a fishing derby after stopping by a sporting goods store to buy fishing gear and a knife. “The funny part is I don’t really carry or use a knife, but for some reason I just felt like I needed to have a knife,” Tony says. It was this very knife he used to break the window and pull Ryder from the car.
But Ryder stopped crying and fell lifeless.

Tony volunteers as a pilot for the Sheriff’s search and rescue team. He knew Ryder was most likely dead, but began using light compressions on the baby’s chest. After about 30 seconds, Ryder came back to life.
Just then, another man named Mike Spicer arrived at the scene. Tony handed Ryder to Mike — and the baby died a second time.
Tony ran back to the wreckage, and worked with an anonymous Good samaritan to pull the rest of the family out of the car.

Mike, a 61-year-old retired California Highway Patrol officer, was sure Ryder was gone. He laid the lifeless baby in his truck and started to perform CPR. All the while, he said a prayer to God.
Mike happened to be listening to a sermon about men who are filled with the “Holy Spirit” when he came upon the crash. Within a minute of performing CPR, Ryder began crying again. Together, Mike (left) and Tony (right) knew this was a very good sign; they couldn’t believe their eyes as the sermon continued over the radio.

Before Ryder was rushed to the hospital, he was back to smiling and giggling. He’s now back home with his family. Ryder’s mom and two siblings walked away with only scratches and bruises.
Tony, who is also an ordained reverend, believes God put him — and everyone else who responded to the accident — there at the “right time, at the right place.”
“Obviously, I have a lot of faith,” he says, “but it’s one thing to read about Christ and another thing to actually be part of — again, no doubt — a miracle.”

Baby Ryder was brought back to life not once, but twice. It’s no wonder people are hailing him a miracle, and hailing Mike and Tony real-life heroes.
