Bus Driver Saves 38 Children When School Bus Bursts Into Flames
It was a routine trip to a Florida middle school, when suddenly 38 children’s lives were put in danger. At 7:15 in the morning, one of he students began to scream.
“A student yelled at me and said, ‘There’s smoke coming in the bus.’ As soon as she yelled ‘There’s smoke in the bus,’ I immediately pulled over,” said bus driver, Kristina Buhrman.
She quickly got every single kid off the bus as it went up in flames. The fire blew out the windows, melted off the paint and flattened the tires.
“The kids did great,” Buhrman said. “They got off in a single-file line. They moved quickly and they had to climb over the guardrail to get into the grass.”
Like hero bus driver Darnell Barton who saved a woman on a bridge, thanks to Kristina keeping a cool head and using her quick thinking, every student went unscathed. She’s even being regarded as a hero.
“The bus driver did a fabulous job in getting all those kids off in time, or, as you would have known, if they didn’t get off, it would have been a terrible thing,” said Highway Patrol Trooper Sgt. Mary Godino.
While Buhrman may have thought she was just doing her job, we know those children and their parents are eternally grateful......By Emerald Pellot
